Side-by-side: the exact products
| Question | Freename Web3 | Unstoppable Web3 |
|---|---|---|
| Main comparison | Second-level names and custom Web3 TLD products. | Web3 names offered across its selected extensions. |
| Name renewal | Most Web3 names have no renewal; the FAQ names .CHZ as an exception. | No Web3 renewal pricing in the reviewed product rules. |
| Separate services | Royalty licensing and reseller services can have their own charges. | Marketplace and partner products have separate conditions. |
| MetaMask evidence | Freename Resolver Snap listing describes provider API-based resolution. | Unstoppable Snap listing describes the send flow and version requirements. |
| Income question | Qualifying registrations under a TLD can create royalties under program rules. | A completed resale or eligible partner transaction is a distinct revenue event. |
Which fits your intended use?
Freename deserves a closer look if your purpose is to operate a custom Web3 extension and evaluate registrations beneath it. That is a customer-acquisition project: the extension needs a reason for other people to use it. Read the Freename profile and separate the TLD acquisition from any license or tools.
Unstoppable deserves a closer look if you want a particular name from its offered Web3 extensions and its documented integrations fit your workflow. Read the Unstoppable profile to distinguish its Web3 asset from the traditional DNS names also sold in the same account.
Neither option wins on “passive income” alone. A percentage says how eligible revenue may be shared; it does not state how many customers will arrive. Use the sales-hurdle calculator with your own acquisition and recurring costs.
Compare a complete ownership budget
Use the same holding period, payment assumptions and required actions for both options. Put the acquisition price, subsequent renewals, configuration transactions and optional tools on separate lines. Keep ETH amounts in ETH until you state an exchange-rate assumption. A “no renewal” label answers only the name-renewal question.
A practical worksheet records the complete identifier, controlling wallet, intended use, app support, first payment and later-year charges. This makes it possible to compare the decision you are actually considering, rather than the most attractive line from each provider's marketing.
Compatibility is a task, not a logo
Ask which wallet version, network and action is supported. Paying with a wallet at checkout does not prove the purchased name works in that wallet's recipient field. An NFT appearing in a collection does not prove a primary-name lookup works. Use the source-linked compatibility matrix to distinguish the evidence.
For a hypothetical studio, list two must-have tasks such as “customers can resolve our payment name” and “our team profile displays the name.” Check each task separately for each complete identifier. If either cannot be verified, record it as unresolved instead of scoring it as supported.
Questions to settle before buying
- Is your goal a personal name, a custom extension, resale or a reseller business?
- Does the quote include a royalty license or another annual tool?
- Can the intended recipient workflow be verified for the full name?
- What happens to optional service costs in a year with no sales?
- Are any promotional charges different at renewal?
Our comparison method
This is a documentation-based comparison. We checked the linked provider rules and named integration evidence on the review date. We have not purchased both products, tested every wallet or verified typical resale proceeds. Our selection guidance is an editorial inference from the use cases and requirements above.
