SNS Migration: Understanding .sns and the New .sol

A dated starting point for understanding the SNS migration and checking current support.

SNS is moving existing names to .sns while introducing a separate SRS-based .sol registry.

Current status in the official FAQ

The FAQ says existing names now resolve as .sns and .sol resolution is paused. Use supported .sns workflows while following official activation updates.

Existing records and new names

The existing domain retains its records and settings under .sns. Eligible holders receive a separate new .sol name automatically. New .sns registrations do not qualify for that matching-name distribution.

Activation remains a separate step

The new .sol system becomes usable as activation and application support roll out. A delivered name is not proof that every wallet supports it.

Before changing your public instructions

Check the official FAQ and the exact app's current support. Keep the registry, suffix and destination address clear in any instructions you share.
